So I currently have a Huawei smart scale, which for some reason hasn't tracked changes to my muscle composition at all. It does work for my wife, so I'm not sure if it has to do with my height (I'm 1.96m tall) or something else, but it hasn't made even the slightest change in terms of muscle mass in over three years while it has fluctuated with regards to bodyfat, weight and water percentage, as it should. Just strange that it doesn't work for me in that one category? So I figure I'd probably look into getting another scale but hope it doesn't have the same problem in measuring muscle mass as the Huawei does.

Are you possibly over the Huawei's weight limit? Most of them are borderline for someone your height, particularly if you indulge in activities that might prompt you to want to track your muscle composition ;) I have the Garmin S2 for this reason.

Is it maybe showing skeletal muscle? That doesn't vary much. I have Pi.fit scales which have a reading for muscle mass and skeletal muscle. The cheap scales that I had from Makro before that only showed skeletal muscle and I only realised when I got the new scales.

Bneta and Xiaomi do smart scales which are fairly affordable especially when on special. I don't have any personal experience of them myself however but that's where I would probably start if I needed to replace my current smart scale.

Smart scales don’t work and never did. The only thing they’re good for is reporting your weight to your app over Bluetooth which is nice. Everything else, the numbers are made up.

Could be, I don't recall seeing that there was a weight limit, but then again I don't often read the booklets that come with these things.

Might be skeletal muscle, I guess - but mine hasn't varied at all, while my wife's has changed by a couple percentages over time. Not even 0.01% in over 3 years in my case, seems odd.

Yeah, I never really put much stock into the absolute percentages and values that it gives, but it's nice to get a baseline and see how how my metrics change over time. In this particular category though, it never changes, but overall it doesn't really matter that much.

I am using some dischem cr*p but as long as it reduces my weight every week, I am not gonna complain.

For fancy ones, I refer you to rich okes in UK - @Sinbad or US - @cguy
I use a YUNMAI scale, which works pretty well:

I do sometimes feel insulted, when I haven’t been on it for a while and gain weight. It asks if it’s really me on the scale…

LOL @is it really you.

I feel disappointed. I was expecting something extravagant like this from you :)

@Sinbad - this will fit well with your no-front-wheel razzmatazz bike.
