Hi,

I want to get some smart switches installed to control my home, got a samsung smartthings hub.

The switches I am looking at are Leviton DZ15S switches, below are the ratings

Incandescent - 1800W - 120VAC, 60Hz
• LED/CFL - 5A, 600W - 120VAC, 60Hz
• Fluorescent - 15A - 120VAC, 60Hz;
8A - 277VAC, 60Hz
• Resistive - 15A - 120VAC, 60Hz
• Motor - 1/2 HP - 120VAC, 60Hz

I know RSA is 240V AC, 50Hz. So the only rating that would kinda match is 8A - 277VAC, 60Hz. I am guessing this means this switch can support a 8A Fluorescent bulb up to 277 V AC at 60Hz.

Looking at one of the power saver bulbs i have installed, it runs at 105 mA, and 110 - 240V.

So ultimately my question is will this switch be usable in RSA?

I will likely get an electrician to install them, but don't want to buy these if there is no way they would work.

thanks in advance fr any advice.

why not spend a bit more time and find a 220-240V Ac version suitable for use in SA? What is this fascination with buying overseas stuff off the Internet??

There are many suppliers of this sort of thing in SA.

A smart switch voltage rating must match the country they are to be used in, those are for the US at 120v AC, none of them will work here.

Find the 220v AC version or try a different make.

Thanks for the reply,

My issue is I have a US smartthings HUB. so the Zwave will not work with other products that are not from the US. And another reason is that the smart switches I have found here are about 800 - 1000 bucks each. These are 35 USD

The DZ15s switch should work. The other devices in the range (dimmers, outlets, etc.) are only suitable for 120VAC.

I asked some of the guys at work who are more handy than me, they also said it should be fine.

Yea the outlets I would not attempt. Appreciated the feedback :)

Awesome, let me know, I will be interested in your thoughts. Hope they work for you
Okay I received it on Thursday but not too happy by using there app to control it, you don't even download the app from the playstore and it doesn't come with it's own API.

You can flash the firmware but will only play with it this weekend to know.
