Smart tiles generate electricity when you walk on them

Energy company EnGoPlanet has installed four streetlights in Las Vegas which are only powered by solar and kinetic energy.

Why do they have to wait for you to walk on them, if they were smart, they'd generate electricity all the time. Just saying.


Smart ass comments aside, it's a cool idea. Reminds me of the kinetic chargers... whatever happened to those?

If they did, at least an EFF march could generate enough power to heat up a cheese & ham garage pie.... would be the most useful thing they've ever done.

The register has a very pessimistic article about them. More hype than practicality.

Might be useful for fixed things like low level led lighting though. Ou Kaapse Weg at night with cars driving over something like this to generate power for the cats eyes would make sense. The solar ones were a flop.

So why don't they use this on roads.. or is it the weight issue. imagine this powering led lane lights and robots
