Smart TV boxes for under R1,000

Thanks but I would prefer to stick with Android. I know Android and the few times I do work with Apple products I feel so restricted and frustrated. I also like the option of side-loading apps to test and play with.

So for anyone that might be interested, I think I managed to get my Mi stick audio delay issue resolved. Will do further testing over the weekend.

I tried a few of the advice options that was offered to me on this thread and also did some more research and tried some of that as well but had no success. Then I came across a 3 year old thread (yes, I know) on Reddit where someone mentioned how the had the same issue and after many attempts finally resolved their issue as well.
So basically I used the TV's USB port to power the Mi Stick and after reading the post I thought I would try it as well. So I unplugged the unit from the USB port and used the Mi Stick power block and plugged it directly into the normal wall socket and just like that, the issue resolved itself.
What I don't understand is that I had been using the TV's USB port to power the stick for quite a few months already with no issue. What I think happened is that I used a different USB port after I had unplugged all my devices from the TV to rearrange them and now used a lower power rated USB port on the TV, and this could have lead to the issue I was experiencing.
I'll test again this weekend when I get chance. But for now there is no more audio delay. So thanks again for those that offered advice.

Firstly I would not have thought your issue, was power related.

Secondly TV box manufacturers do not put a power supply unit in the box, because they think it is not required. They would save a fair few rands on the price, if they regarded plugging it into your TV USB ports as being more than good enough. And as a result did not supply a power supply unit at all.

But people persist, in that practice, and then wonder why they have issues, and why their device has a shorter than expected life.

Lastly a general comment, they are free to do as it pleases them, as they are the ones paying school fees.

The faster USB port will most likely be blue.
