Anyone of anything locally ?

This item below looks unreal and I'm sure there is very little that measures so much - but anything else ? I don't really have criteria right now - but just sniffing around. The Netamo station looks decent as well

Did you win the lottery boo? How much shopping have you been doing in the last 3 months?

These get good reviews.

When it comes to weather and I guess also depends how serious you are, there is only one and it’s Davis.
One day when I’m big.

Only the phones, Apple TV and a soundbar. Anything else I’ve just asked and haven’t pulled the trigger :)

I’ll check it out - thanks!

We have one of these. Connect to HA via Ecowitt. Paid 150Eu about 4 years back - the same hw is sold by a range of rebranders. I think ours was labeled Alecto...
Uses the AW app though:)

I have the WS-2000, it has a better display, and is expandable with additional sensors (I use the soil moisture sensors). Easy to set up and I am very happy with it.

Priorities.
/sips Frisco instant coffee.
Besides, rykgatte have the KestrelMet 6000 AG

Also after one of these... Been using one that is close by where I stay via a public api. The info that you get is worth it in my opion. No moving parts that gets damaged over time.

I first saw a few reviews on the Tempest 2 or 3 years ago. My first thought was also that it sounds too good to be true, way too much going on in that single box. I thought to give it some time and see how the company develops, but it looks like they have boomed.

A few days ago I spoke to a guy from America who has one up since the beginning of 2020 and so far he is very impressed with it, says it hasn't missed a beat. Before that he had a Davis for over 5 years which he lost when the pole it was on got blown over in a storm. He said at the time he bought the Tempest, a new Davis was simply too expensive for him and if looking back now, he can't really say whether the Davis was better than the Tempest.

It's certainly very appealing at less than half the price of a Davis Vantage pro2. I'm going to troll the youtubes again to see if I can find some newer, maybe long term reviews.

I was reading the reviews and the only negative thing in that review was the haptic rain measurement isn't very accurate .

Ja I know the Davis way of measuring rain with the tipping spoon is the most accurate, pro stations costing 10 times more use the same method to measure rain.

But then I guess we should ask ourselves not very accurate compared to what? How accurate is the normal old style rain gauges we put outside on our lawn, are those accurate at all or also only a reference? Thing is, you can't really compare these meters with the Davis your neighbour next door or down the street uses, you can't even really compare if moving it from one side of your house to the other.

I think the downside with the Tempest in SA will be that it uses data from other stations and services in the area to adjust or correct those rain readings, I guess it anyway averages it out. But in SA where there are very few in use I'm not sure how well those adjustments or AI changes, whatever they call it will work compared to in America for example.

Never order from reliablestore.co.za , they are not reliable at all. They take your money ... don't tell you anything for months. If you complain alot they send you one or two items which is wrong items in any case. You have to send dozens of emails and still don't get your product.
