Smartphones create smart shoppers

Speaking to the crowed via Skype, Mathers said: “There’s been a slow...

I hope this was unintentional !

Should be 'crowd'.
A crowd is a large and definable group of people, while "the crowd" is referred to as the so-called lower orders of people in general (the mob). ...

i work in company that sells retail point of sale software and web stores linked to stores and/or head offices linked to it as a package all integrated and works in real time vice versa. but introducing the concept to current and prospective clients is a mission. some not sure if its the way forward, dont trust it cause of security, think its for big retailers ie PnP or Game etc. we have won some over but the mindset has not set in with retail sector to accept this. Kalahari is a good example of a good webstore with al the bells and whistles but as shown in the Tesco advert, i think phone apps will increase the purchases of such goods from them.

Even if more people shop online retails shops wont die out completely or, rather will have to change they way they work.

Like yesterday I went out to the local shopping center for the general browse around to kill time. Walking into Exclusive books I saw a book that was on sale. But unlike what I would normally do instead of opening the book and reading the 1st chapter I went for my DHD, scanned the barcode. In no time I was reading the reviews and comparing prices to Amazon and alike.

I found that the book came highly recommended and normally retailed for double the sale price, but just as I was about to walk to the cashier I found a site that was more current pointing out that some errors where corrected in the second edition that was released last month, available on Kindle. I ended up buying the Electronic version to be used on my tablet back home.

Walking around with internet in you pocket is defiantly going to change how people shop, but I do believe that there is a need for actual shops to still exist. People like to feel and touch things before they buy. Walking around can not be done online as its done in a shopping mall.

I wonder what life will be like in future when you can do all things behind the closed doors.

Hmm, has its advantages. On the other hand, a cellphone is fast becoming like something out of the movie "Enemy of the State". Everything about you can be linked to one device that is with you wherever you are. Now we can add low-fat-or-full-cream to that list Lol.

Deja vu. I think I read this before, around 5-6 months ago.

You can't believe how far we are behind the rest of the civilised world when it comes to buying online - another thanks to telkom for keeping the Internet from the masses.

I think the way you shop is going to, is by downloading a PicknPay or a Checkers app to your phone and off you go shopping! Don't worry, they don't exist as yet! FNB is already there with banking! Other banks will follow!
