I have a client who I put in a firewall/gateway proxy that uses ldap authentication for the users behind that firewall to connect to the Internet.

Everything works fine on this network (IE, Online banking, skype, Google talk, Email.. well just about everything). Obviously everything has to authenticate to the server and everything seems to work just fine.

Except this SmartSurv vehicle tracking software. I was wondering if anyone has has experience with this software before and had to deal with any issues related to it.

My guess (from the very limited documentation), is that it uses the "jabber" protocol and http protocol. I feel that only one of the two services is authenticating which is why the service is failing.

Im off to the client in a bit.. so I thought I would just ask around here to see if anyone has come across this before.

I have just implemented this software in my business for my fleet and have had no problems through my adsl line. However, I remember at my previous job the large company was running the software and it would not work through the ISA firewall servers without opening a port first. The port in question is listed in the smarttrak software under settings and then connection. Let me know if this sorted things out.

I have a feeling that someone else also had this issue and found a solution here on the forums. I can't remember now where it was or I would have linked to it. That name is what rang the bell.
