My son has just purchased a Huawei GT 2e smart watch...and I could not believe the specs/price comparison:
Thought I would post for anybody in the market for a wearable.

The price/spec comparisons vary wildly and research should be done extensively before purchase. Here is a comparison of display sizes of the most expensive non-cosmetic (e.g. Diesel, Rolex, etc.) smartwatches, especially listed on most tech websites:
Apple Watch (S7): 396 x 484
Apple Watch (S3): 312 x 390
Garmin Fenix 7: 260 x 260
Garmin Epic: 416 x 416
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4: 450 x 450
Suunto 9 Peak: 240 x 240

...Huawei GT 2e: 454 x 454: Officially the cheapest of all the top of the range smart watches out there.

Yes, there are other just-as-import specs, but for a smart watch, I expect the display to be a very important factor. Note, it contains all the general features of the other watches (HR, O2, Multi-sport analysis including swimming & triathlon, sleep and stress measures, etc.).

The biggest omission, so far I can see with the Huawei is a lack of NFC (which prevents Google Pay).

i take it it’s the normal Fenix 7 and not the X?

I love my old Huawei GT2!

Battery life has deteriorated over the 2 or 3 years to only 10 days though.

I can still handle charging 3 times a month

I have a GT2e as my daily watch, and it's really decent as a smartwatch - and as you allude to, the display is very clear and readable. From a fitness point of view, I'd still rather have a dedicated running watch; the GT2e's fitness screens are not customisable (so, for example, you have no way of showing average HR on the screen), and the GPS under-reads distances slightly.
