Smash and Grab tint

going to auto armor tomorrow. Quoted R1400 for my car
 
I have LLumar and it is the only brand Mercedes will factory fit on their cars. Must be a reason for that IMHO.

It's actually the correct retail price for Llumar on a sedan. Fitment centres make huge markups, unfortunately - actual cost is closer to R500....

I actually thought I scored a bargain with groupon. Phone the company and the guy told me they do llumar and some other tint and I think 150micron. Anyway I didnt take it and then I saw them advertising again on gumtree and then the phoned again and the lady told me llumar is too expensive and they use a cheaper tint, llumar is around R20k a roll. R1000 for llumar didnt make sense as groupon gets 50% of the deal as a far as I understand.

If you want tinting to be done, do it now winter time as demand is low.
 
You get what you pay for - a cheap smash and grab plastic will not work the way Llumar does - we had a demonstration, and they gave one of our guys who was a body builder, a tyre iron and told him to break a car's window.

After ten minutes, he was eventually throwing himself at the thing and hammering the window and the final result was a dented window that he couldn't get through without using a hacksaw. Llumar is good.

That's very good.

I guess the tyre iron they gave us to use wasn't heavy enough....the point is, however, that it slows the ******s breaking in right down to the point that it is pointless going for that particular car.

To bump and old thread, just as I thought this would be useful to add if people search for this topic!

That is the normal price. Defcon is good protection, but mine (375 odd micron) is starting to delaminate after 5 years :( Go for llumar
 
I dont think this is such a great vid. Everywhere I went for quotes, they only sold the 100micron. They said anything thicker will mess with the motors on the windows, so they dont sell it.
You could however get a double layer fitted for few hundred extra.
