I smashed my Sony Z2 screen over the weekend and Vodacom Repairs reckon between R3,500.00-R4,000.00.

If I elect to take it to one of the smaller independent run stores, do they use the same screens etc?
Is the quality of work alright?

EDIT : Looks better to buy a new phone is they charge R4,000.00

I'm sorry, but R4000 to repair a screen is absolutely insane!

EDIT: I'm also sorry that I didn't answer your question. I think independent stores will make use of "unofficial" screens when they're available, which should be a whole lot cheaper. They work just as well as far as I know, but it might not have the Sony logo on it.

If I'm honest, I don't know enough about procedure for replacing Z2 screens! Perhaps there isn't enough of a market to bring the fake screens in, in which case the expensive option is all you've got (happened to me with my Lumia 920, earlier last year). Try call around and ask..

Thanks.

Yea, agreed. Orange store sell the phone at R5,600.00, so if it is in fact that high I'd rather get a new one from there or even find a second hand one. I've mailed Sony to tell them they're pushing the purchase through unofficial channels and denying them revenue.

What was the 920 cost?
