Currently having smoked mussels on a variety of salty biscuits with cream cheese and chives.
I find the relationship between the mussels and cheese very erotic

Tried mussels recently. The half undigested stuff inside them is not for me tbh.

Great presentation in that pic though. :)

Sometimes I mash them all up with some lemon pepper, lemon juice, salt and a bit of mayo, then spread it on toast.

Nomnom that sounds delicious. How much mayo?

EDIT: how about taking your recipe and adding a tin of tuna to stretch it a bit?

Maybe a tablespoon of mayo per tin. Just so that it's not like eating dry toast, but not too wet.

Dunno about tuna. I think it would detract from the smokey flavour. I would rather use another tin of mussels lol. I'm also a big fan.

You're right the tuna will not work so lekka. Maybe some smoked snoek will work. I just feel one should add another meaty item to brake the richness of the mussels.

Damn one can make a nice instant paté with this

Not a fan of canned oysters, prefer the real teal fresh from the sea.

But mussels exactly the opposite.

Not ever had canned oysters myself, only fresh.

Canned mussels are lekker.
Nicer if you can get them off the rocks and drop them in some boiling water right there and then
Some tabasco too :)
