I can see in this forum there are many users of SmoothWall, therefore I would like to clarify some concerns from you all.

I am planning to install SmoothWall my company network (50+ computers) using MS Exchange and a proxy server. I assume that SmoothWall can replace my proxy server but I have to keep my Exchange.

- I noticed that SmoothWall comes with free Antivirus software, is there any option to have two Antivirus installed in the server? like I will keep the free AV and want to add some other AV package
Kaspersky or Symantec etc.?

- I hope that I need to consider the paid version of SmoothWall Corporate Firewall 5?
Thank you,

@ Smartcard - I use the same setup - Exchange 2003 with Smoothwall, and it works flawlessly.

Dansguardian and ClamAV prohibits the downloading of virus-laden files, at the same time blocking access to pr0n sites.

What outside connection do you plan on using? 64k d1cknet, or 512k adsl?

Smoothwall have the option to act as a transparent proxy server (default option with a Dansguardian install).

Try Express first, Corporate do have more functions, but with a bit of modding and work, Express can do the same things as the Corporate version.

Should you want to purchase the Corporate edition, you can get an evaluation licence to see if it will fit your needs.

My connection will be 512kb DSL and another 256kb cable. I filled the evaluation licence request from, waiting for the reply.

@ Smartcard - the Corp version should be able to handle two red interfaces, it is a good idea to run the evaluation version first.

Do let us know what happens.
