Hi

I made a packaged 2.6.5 kernel with the IPW driver compiled in, just need to know firstly who is using Smoothwall, and what your other needs are.

From what I can see it should be easy just to include a modified PPP script to dial up with, I just need someone who can test it for me.

Would it be easier if I created an upgrade package that you can use with the standard smoothwall upgrade procedure?

Hello,

I am DYING to test it out as it would save me R 250! PLEASE send me this, along with instructions on how to get it installed (I'm new to Linux). I already have my whole network set up, I'm waiting for the ethernet cable so I can actually use my smoothwall.

The only trouble is, the box doesn't have any USB ports in it - if I bought one of those USB PCI add in cards, would that allow me to test it?

It would probably be easier if you created an upgrade package - that way, us newbies wouldn't have a problem.

So if you need someone to test it all for you - please email me the package, along with instructions on how to install it. My email address is donovan@[REMOVE]cairney.co.za .. obviously remove the [remove] part [:)]

Many thanks,
Donovan

Its a bit hefty (9mb). I will upload it to my webserver when I'm done with some more testing. Will look into creating an upgrade package.

I'm building this for the current smoothwall 2.0 release.

9MB is fine for me to download, just not from my email server.

Rather let me download it, like you said. Just please include instructions [8D]

Of course :P

Its a rather easy process, which I can automate relativly well.

well it doesnt seem too fond of the 2.6 kernel. Might end up just building a new ISO.

Oh well, if at first you dont succeed - hack and hack some more.
