Hi

I keep getting a tracker SMS from some unknown phone. I am with Vodacom and this other phone sends the tracker msg from an MTN number. I contacted mtn and they told me to go the the police station. The police did not know what to do and MTN refuses to block the number from sending me SMS's. I phoned the number and the person says he bought the phone a week ago and doesn't know anything about it. My problem: I get 15 - 20 of these sms's every day and at all hours like 4am in the morning waking me up. HOW DO I STOP THIS?? I don't want to change my number because of someone elses fault!

Can you set the ring tone for the caller to Silent/None?

Still a schlep to delete the message, but at least the distraction is minimised.

Its from a Samsung phone sending out a sms as soon as the sim changes.

Doesn't really fix the problem but helps

Hey, thanks for the idea of setting that number to silent, but it doesn't really fix the problem. Is there no way I can get this stopped. Really, samsung should be suid for harrasment!!! I never gave anybody permission to use my number and can't believe that samsung will build such a flawed feature into their phone! what where they thinking!!???

Can I set the SMS tone for a specific caller to silent or just the ringtone? I have a Nokia X6 and Apple iPhone 3G which I use depending on my needs for the day.

It's not Samsung's fault, it's the owner. He must have put that number in somewhere, how else is his phone going to SMS to your number?
It's not the phone's fault that he's to stupid to set it up properly.

I'm surprised our cellular networks wont block certain people from messaging/calling our phones. I'm sure it's possible, they're just too useless to bother.

Phone the Number again, tell the owner to go into applications or somewhere similar, get to Samsung tracker or something similar (maybe look for "Phonelocator Periodic") and get him to change the settings, tell the owner that the sms's are costing him as well and that should motivate him enough to do something about it

Samsung should have put a feature into the phone to stop it from sending the SMS so many times! Once would have been enough.

Yes, it most prob is a stollen phone that is being used now. Do you think the thief will listen to me if he didn't the first time I phoned and secondly it requires a password to take the tracking feature off (i discovered this whilst reseaching this) once its been set. So only origanal owner of the phone will know the password if it was changed from factory default.
