sms lingo

i struggle so much with this sms lingo that people use.:p am i the only one?
 
Examples?

The only lingo I see in SMSs are the good ol' internet abbreviations, lols, ROFLs, WTFs, STFUs etc. :p And that's from "the younger crowd".

Anyone over 40 who sends me an SMS never uses lingo and USUALLY DOES IT ALL IN CAPS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW THAT LOWER CASE EXISTS ON "THE SMS" AND PROBABLY CAN'T READ SMALLER TEXT ANYWAY. :D

I know an old woman of 57 who sends SMS messages with that abbreviated language.

Although in her case, I think she really spells that bad :)
 
I've stopped moaning since biatching about it was about as fruitful as telling a street kid not to buy glue with the 5 bux you gave him.
 
Personally, I find so-called h4x0rs more irritating. SMS lingo has its place - especially when you only have 160 characters to go with. Generally though, I find it easier to send a multi-SMS (phone does it automagically), and get the full picture across. That, or send an MMS.
 
Or just phone the person

some of the lingo is just plain stupid. Saw someone reply to the tune of "thiz iz nothing" or something. Why replace the s with a z if there's no purpose in shortening the word?

Either people are idiots in general and don't know how to spell (had an sms come through saying, "I cant aford thiz cause I am un unploid"

Don't even get me started. It really busts my chops. Is it so difficult to write properly? So what if you go over the 160 characters. It's only another 80c or whatever it is.
 
In all honesty I'm really anal when it comes to SMSs. I never abbreviate and punctuate everything.

Drives the girlfriend mad. :o

Me too, and then they're suprised at how fast we can reply too. Sometimes I just get rid of all the spaces (between commas or full stops) but thats about it
 
I used to recieve sms's from a chick that used to read like this...

"disisddumbestway2sendasmsbcozicantmakesenseofanyting"

Funky abbreviations and she used to try and save the spaces!!!

That was insane!!!
