I am considering upgrading to the E71, but have never had a phone with QWERTY keyboard before. Is it feasible to type an sms with one hand? I know this will not be the norm, but sometimes it may be preferable.

While I have the opportunity, let me ask another question. Is it possible to get a horizontal carry pouch for the E71 that fits on the belt?

Thanks

I got the SE P1i - also has a qwerty keyboard layout with two characters on each button, one on the left and one on the right side of each button.
Due to the size of my fingers it makes it almost impossible to type using those keys, thank god it has a letter recognition system for writing with a stylus...

I have large hands and have no difficulty typing with on hand (thumb) on the E71's keyboard. It has a superb keyboard.

Well, I know exactly why you are asking, and yes it is possible on my TyTn though very uncomfortable.

And very inadvisable. Sms'ing while driving is not very clever. And not very easy :)

Rumbled!

Thank you all for your answers. Am going to go for the E71.

This was my very reason why I didn't get any of the touch screen phones that come with a stylus. I had an imate jam, and sms'ing & driving was a pain in the you know what... I only lasted 10days before selling it... I'm pleased to say (many years) later that I recently converted from an N95 to the BB Bold, and can indeed still SMS in the traffic, though - not recommended :)

This is my 2c

Same with my Treo, curve and Moto q9 - most qwerty phones will pass the one hand sms test - some just better than others! Treo was tops tho...

I don't have relatively big thumbs , compared to my missus my thumbs are much bigger but I find that I type quicker with both thumbs on the E71 & E90 than with one thumb.

You aren't supposed to push the button sides directly. You put your finger in the middle of the key and sort of rock it to hit either side. This will work unless you have grotesquely large fingers. I have an m600i and that keyboard is fabulous for fast typing.
