nope, restart mail app, or use port 587 instead of 25....

Nope there was definitely an issue with the JHB SMTP cluster - I reproduced the error using "telnet smtp.wbs.co.za 25". Was transient though and has now been resolved.
PS you will probably find that if you did a search for "587" that I have recommended it to many other people - but thanx for the thought
Unfortunately not every one of my clients has seen the light and started using my mail infrastructure
