Just saw this on the CLUG mailing list. Here's a link to the entry in the QIL:
http://www.mail-abuse.com/cgi-bin/lookup?ip_address=smtp.saix.net

Here's a definition of the QIL:
"The QIL database is highly dynamic; IP addresses are added as soon we observe them to be involved in the sending of spam. This database is continuously being updated with IP addresses being added and removed as their behavior warrants. Decisions to add or remove an IP are based a combination of history and current spamming activity.

If your address is on the QIL database, you should check your computer for signs of unauthorized activity. If you are running a Windows-based PC, it is highly probable that your computer has been compromised by a virus or spyware application. Running an anti-virus program is certainly a good first step, but not all compromises are found even by the best anti-virus programs - you may need to contact an expert. If you are running a web server, check for other unauthorized activities, such as exploitable scripts and PHP software.

You may, of course, request removal of the address from the QIL database, but be aware that it may be placed back on the database if additional spam is sent. To prevent abuse we limit the number of removal requests in a given period."

Anyone confirm this by having issues with mail?

There are like 50 different blacklists, the most popular to my knowing being sorbs.net, where SAIX is cool.

I use them and I've never had any mail returned due to blacklist issues in the last year. Also not today. And I send a LOT of mail. (No lists/etc though)

QIL seems to be a those PC-Cillin Idiots' (Trend Micro) list. They're obviously clueless and their efforts pointless.

PC-Cillin is crap. So is Norton Antivirus. And McAfee VShield. They all slow your machine to a crawl. I've tried everything, and has so far stuck with AVG http://free.grisoft.com/ for 2 years. (I think they are good friends with virus writers since they come from one of those east european countries. Haha, maybe why their patches seem to come out first) I do scout and check out the others every now and then, but as of this writing they're still all crap.

PS Installing virus filtering in your end-user PC for incoming mail is a joke. Really. Show me an internet mailserver without built-in virus scanning. I doubt there are any. Hence. Bluh.

I just sent a mail to Trend and Saix mailadmins telling them wake t.f.up. I mean to say, that Saix is a mail gateway used by thousands of ADSL users in SA and Saix to confirm this to them. Cool. Now kill this thread.
