Anyone experiencing problems sending mail using smtp.saix.net at the moment:mad:?

I tried to ping it yesterday and just received timeouts..however tried using it and it went through fine.. Not sure if this info would help.

There were problems on Thursday affecting the sending of mails using smtp.saix.net. I confirmed that there was a problem. Mails were delayed by up to an hour. But by yesterday morning, they seemed to have resolved the problem.

Might as well, check with you guys. Which smtp server do you suggest I use? I have exchange running on our server with the smart host configured as smtp.saix.net. Is it advisable to rather use our ISP's smtp server?

I have 2 pppoe connections, SAIX and IS. I rotate the SMTP sending between smtp.saix.net and smtp.isdsl.net as soon as I get a report that one of them is giving problems I switch to the other. This way my issues with SMTP sending are kept to a minimum.

I used to relay via dyndns.org's relay service pretty cheap and its very good, but being international can be expensive on the bandwidth.

Oops didn't answer the question, there was a problem with one of the SAIX's mail relay servers yesterday afternoon, so I switched over to IS immediately.

I'd strongly suggest installing Postcast on the same server:
http://www.postcastserver.com/

Configure Postcast and use either the Hostname or IP of the same server configured in Exchange to send mail. That way you have a true Mail Server. Your own SMTP server to do the job, without relying on shoddy SAIX, which has problems weekly.

I'm not sure if the Free edition will be as fast as the Pro edition, but I'm not aware of any "limits" it emposes either.

Ultimately, I'd like to configure our own mail server at work to achieve this, although we've got an hMail set up.

I haven't run Postcast on a Server yet, but it works fine on any other Windows version.

;)

Edit:

My research gave this:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8b83ac7t.aspx Win2k8
http://www.ehow.com/how_4489548_set-up-smtp-server-windows.html WinXp
http://computerperformance.co.uk/exchange2003/exchange2003_virtual_servers.htm Win2k3

Edit2: Virtual SMTP not available in Standard Windows Vista or Windows 7 editions, should be available in Server 2008.
