When I send mail from my ADSL email account to bob( at )onlinereservations.co.za I receive the error message shown below. And yet I can successfully send email to bob( at )onlinereservations.co.za from Ananzi, Gmail, M-Web Airmail, etc. I have tested it a few times and I only receive the error message when I send from my ADSL email account which uses smtp.saix.net. Sending to other email addresses works fine. Any idea why message delivery only fails when I send from my ADSL email account and only with this one email address?

This is the Postfix program at host ctb-mesg6.saix.net.

Hi

The mail server in question (and the domain) is serviced and linked to a domain that is up for sale. Now that is a bad sign IMO. The domain in question is internethosting.co.za and they are using Sendmail, but I could not find a fault on the server. It responds to ordinary service queries. I suspect it might be a Telkom problem related to system overload perhaps. I run into this problem with Telkom myself from time to time. Thus I would guess the problem lies with Telkom even though I would be worried about the FOR SALE sign on the email service provider' domain. Any Sendmail experts here?

Cheers
Antowan

Thanks Antowan.

Yeah, I agree. I think it must be a Telkom/SAIX problem because I can send and receive email sent FROM Ananzi, Gmail, M-Web Airmail, etc to bob ( at ) onlinereservations.co.za.

I have tried to contact SAIX/TELKOM but they say I have to log a complaint with my ISP (M-Web) so I have done so BUT M-Web said I must contact SAIX/TELKOM directly. Anyway after arguing with M-Web they are now going to log the fault with SAIX.

Another question: Why does this POSTFIX/SAIX smtp server take 4 days to bounce? Isn't that too long a delay for the first notification that there is a problem?

PS. I understand your concerns with the 'for sale' thing but the domains are mine so that is not a problem.

A ha...

:o)
