Since the weekend the SMTP server (mail.cmobile.co.za) doesn't seem to work. I can download my mail via GMail's POP server but no luck in sending mail. Any suggestions?-

Since the weekend the SMTP server (mail.cmobile.co.za) doesn't seem to work. I can download my mail via GMail's POP server but no luck in sending mail. Any suggestions?victorlebza

I also experienced the same problem with Gmail. Just wait a little more and try again later---and later----and later.
Also, just check the C Mobile wesite to see if there hasn't been any major updates of some sort.
mail.cmobile.co.za not working for me either.
You can configure you email client to use GMail's secure SMTP server, there are instructions on their site.

I had the same problem and put in my MTN card. It was able to send.
I was also having problems with webmail. It kept on asking for my password on Microsoft Outlook, but was OK on their website.

Has this problem been sorted yet.
I had to go back onto MTN because of the problem earlier today and then VM went down.
I can send via my hotmail account on Microsoft Outlook but not from my pop account.

Great stuff guys,. thanks for the Gmail tip,... thats it then no more messing about between sim cards when local servers have hiccups,... too baad Virgin,...
and by the way,.. i really am considering switching to MTN bundles seeing as they too offer edge etc,.. but yes,. the bundle feature, plus the fact that the line is just way more solid,..
In closing though, must say,.. spent alot of money with Virgin now,. Thanks for the cheap /meg rates,. very nice,..

Been struggling with this myself for a couple of days. Eventually I called their support (not that I thought they would know what they're talking about) and they gave me smtp.mail.cmobile.co.za
Which needless to say was wrong. I then pinged the mail.cmobile.co.za server and it came up with a dns name of mta0.cmobile.co.za
I checked that out and found a whole bunch of addresses and dns names here: http://www.robtex.com/dns/cmobile.co.za.html
So in the end, I used the mta0 address as the smtp server, with ssl switched off (as well as log into smtp server of course) and now it finally works.
