How dare they make something more accessible for you! Are they even helping with the infrastructure? I mean...How much has google invested in Apple? Someone needs to pay.

Yeah, but it's not. In order to use this convenient launcher, I'd either have to navigate to it in Finder or Launchpad, click it there and have it open Safari and then Google... or... I could just click on the Safari icon that's already in the dock right in front of me, type "g", let Safari's autofill do the rest, and hit Enter... I'ma going with that second option.
Seriously, I know it's been a while, but do PC applications no longer ask if you'd like to create a shortcut on your desktop?

Different strokes. Until I figured how to get rid of that shortcut last night, it lived a short life in a folder called "Shyte I Don't Want"

Been on a Mac since 2008, can't ever remember seeing apps installed in Home/Applications. Really no reason to go to your Home folder unless you need to get into your Library folder anyway.

The purpose is so users can have local applications. Not all applications need to be global and in some situations the user does not have admin permission, etc.

As it should be.

If they're there, they'll be among your apps in Launchpad or you can open Finder... User/Applications/

They are lying in a folder called Chrome Apps. \Users\username\Applications\Chrome Apps\

No other apps that I have do this. Only Chrome. All other apps install themselves to the Applications folder and can be deleted from there. Chrome adds shortcuts to it's web apps in the user's Applications folder but it can be easily deleted.

For the non-Mac users that can't understand/troll (delete where applicable) why the OP is upset: Decent Windows app installers give you the option of choosing if you require start menu/desktop shortcuts during the installation process. Chrome just does it regardless and you have to sort it out afterwards.
