Did anybody else notice what access just did to their premium ADSL customers?

Their express uncapped products were excellent for one reason only. Despite having a typical ridiculously low soft cap (rolling window) that would easily be reached purchasing a single game off Steam, these account allowed full speed uncapped downloads off peak even after this cap was reached. Accordingly they were price as a premium to their basic uncapped products.

They have just updated these accounts so that this so no longer the case. They will now enforce (shape) off peak caps for their top users.

I can understand why they would want to do this, and I'm sure there is some legal fine print somewhere to permit this, but it does seem a little unethical to me that they take away the single feature that made these accounts attractive without consulting customers and automatically migrating their existing customers to this new offering. The same customers that paid full price during the Seacom outage(s) for limited or non existent service.

I doubt this change will effect me and I will stay with Axxess for now, but they've lost my trust. After being a loyal customer for 4 years I now find it difficult to recommend them. Pity.

It is sad - but the problem is not really Axxess. The problem is with IS who brought in this shyte AUP. Because Axxess just resells the IS product they will have to abide by their(IS) rules. I am also going to wait a month or two to see how this is going to affect me. I hope that it won't be major changes or heavy shapping. That is not what I signed up for and will then just have to wait for another ISP to bring out a TRUE UNCAPPED AND UNSHAPED service...

Y'know, these ISP's are starting to get on my t*ts.......and I don't even have internet yet.

The thing where they just update or change the T&C's has to be illegal in some way.

If my understanding is correct, the day you sign up you have to accept the version on the T&C's given to you and sign for it right? ( like when you install a game and click ACCEPT before you can continue ).

If they do change it, they should notify you and you must sign or somehow approve that you accept the new T&C's, if not, then you can take your business elsewhere.

If they are able to change as much as they please, whats to stop them from adding stuff like "Ok, now we are going to charge you triple and once a week you have to do the makarena in front of a webcam, these are the new terms to make use of our business"

I wish someone would take on these ISP's. The only problem is that we did not really sign any contract as such to say that we abide by their T&C's. The fact they are taking our money every month and that we agreed to pay them that amount might mean that there is a contract. I am just not clued up when it comes to the Law and our rights as consumers.

We need some of the smaller ISPs to merge then only can you get a good quality uncapped product to rival mweb's

who's using mwebs bussiness uncapped unshapped package? is it faster than thier standard?

From all the topics I've read here and on various Facebook groups it really seems like the only people who are offering an acceptable uncapped service is MWEB. When I do ever have the need for uncapped I will probably sign up with them. Seems like those WebAfrica "unsustainable" jokes are not so funny any more.

If you check the terms and conditions it will say that they are subject to change without notice. 99% of terms and conditions include this clause as a catch-all.
