SNO licensing imminent

There's at least 2 - DoE and DTI. Their mandate should clarify why they're involved. There's probably others too, but not known by me...

*edit* aah... turns out I've got it wrong - it's DPLG, DPSA and DoH. What the hell happened to the DoE and DTI?! They're far more important, dammit!!

Matsepe-Casaburri noted that the Convergence Bill commitment would place SA among the world's leaders in the development of the information society.
Somehow realism has escaped her Poisoness Ivyness again...a duopoly that is currently only a monopoly will only place SA in the monopoly leaders of the international uggly duckling contest...

She noted that her department will enter a dialogue with social partners, especially the Ministry of Labour and the sub-sectors of unions, for example postal, broadcast and telecommunications workers, to discuss the changing nature of the ICT sector.
Will she be telling the postal workers about the existence of email I wonder...

I find it interesting that she needs to enter into dialogue with the DoL - they are surely part of the same government & have hopefully been talking to each other throughout about the ICT charter...?

ICASA's workload is to be increased, as the postal regulator will be transferred from the communications department to fall under ICASA.
Now that's really got my goat & ripped its guts out - if they take the postal department out of the DoC & move it to ICASA, what on earth will the DoC & Ivy be doing all day long, who will lick all the stamps & envelopes...?

The esteemed minister would like to apologise to South Africa for the delay, and as such is going to donate free internet time to every school in the country for 3 years. The money for such venture will be provided by teklom, as was decided during exciting voting at an emergency teklom shareholders meeting. The govermnint representatives were unabashed in their statements of encouragement, which proved fruitful in getting the rest of the shareholders to agree.

GIGGLE. Man I'm a dreamer.
