If anyone who has news about the sno please post it here. Im sure a lot of us are dying to get news about the progress that has been made.

Any idea what company the SNO is? All we hear about is "SNO" - but it would help if we knew the name of the actual company thats coming in ?

I am surprised they do not have some type of website, if I were them I would be on a marketing campaign, getting the word out, talking about how they are going to whip Telkom.

they not allowed to do anything yet since they are not licenced yet .... and they can only be licenced when the shareholders decide to sign the shareholders agreement

Yeah i agree, I have an idea for the name they should call it "Bliksimkom - Hitting Telkom" or "Ek sal Telkom gemoor = ESTG".

Ha --- nevermind that was weak

That sounds like it should be illegal to hold them back from advertising, what about freedom of speech on their part?

My afrikanns is really bad soorry if i offended anyone

Not me, I only know how to say "Hello, Thank You and Goodbye" you could say anything and make me believe it is good Afrikaans :D

I spoke to a Telkom Techie the other day, he said that TATA, ESKOM and Transtel and some other big investor were the conglomeration that were going to be the new SNO. I have an idea that it will be around TATA who are VERY big in India. (TATA MA CHANCE, tata ma f*kall!) :D

PS he resigned from TK the moment he heard the news. On his way to a job as a Paramedic in Krugersdorp

Guess KZN is getting their services first - seeing as though Durban IS the capital of India.

Bring it on.

Sorry I hope nobody finds that offensive - it is not meant any any derogatory way

Can't we please start a new section for the SNO. All the facts about who is involved and what shareholding percentages is history already. All that is unknown is the when.

It is a known fact that Durban has the biggest population of Indians next to india itself so u are mearly stating fact, wouldn't worry

Sorry for resurecting the thread but i was hoping to keep it running longer
I suggest one of the mods make it sticky as every one is very interested in this subject

I heard words like 'Imminent' and 'within weeks'.

seems like I have been hearing those words for eva.

Is there not 1 person within our 5000+ membership who happens to be working for Eskom/goverment or any of ther other organisations that are part of the consortium that can give us any indication as to what is going on?

Yes i agree
Weve been hearing this lod of bull for a while now. We need someone who can give us facts. I suggest that we have somewrite a email to one of the major shareholders and ask them to send a representitive to talk to us on the forums

This is a bit of a tongue in cheek comment but... IT DOES NOT SNO IN SA ;-)

"Eskom (the national utility company) and Transtel (a division of Transnet – the transportation parastal) have been increasing their fiber deployment in preparation for the SNO Network. They have invested approximately US$308-million on the SNO network backbone. The other allocated shareholders include black economic empowerment grouping Nexus Connexion with 19%, and CommuiTel and Two Consortium with 13% each. The infrastructure has however been lying dormant as the SNO license experienced a considerable number of delays."

And that was a year ago. They've just been sitting there waiting for the license for a year.

why is this taking so long.
Just sign the bloody license.
If Icasa wants a good way to hurt Telkom they should sign the license as soon as posible
