Hi,

I just wanted to see an average of other peoples SNRs to my own. I get a signal of -55dbi and a noise floor of -88dbi on average. Is this alright? What is yours?

Signal is actually to good, and your noise is allot. You are either very close to your ap or your amping the sh*t out of something

I've asked this before and I can never remember the answer ... am I aiming for -80dbi or -100dbi noise? Is a higher/lower number better?

How can I lower noise? What is too close to AP?

THanks!

For signal, the higher the better, but sometimes too high is also bad. Try for a signal of between -60 and -75. Noise you'll want less of, so the lower the number the better. Ideal noise would be -95 and less.

Geez wireless is confusing ;)

Why would it be too high? :/

Bliksem that is a strong signal! My signal is about -80 dBm and noise about -93 dBm. I'm sharing an ADSL connection with a pal 160 m down the road, semi-LOS. Works like a charm.

I've heard the router, a Linksys WRT54GL, can become hot at 100% TX power. My output power is currently at 25% (25 mW), I've tested the connection at 6mW and it still worked!
