Does anyone know or experienced a SNR drop every evening? It has been happening for a while now and of course telkom does not know what is causing it and is also not interested in finding out why even though it drops below 6 db.

Yes my SNR drops about 6 dB every evening at the same time (about 6pm) and restores every morning at the same time. So I alternate between 12 hours of crap SNR and 12 hours of good SNR every day. Am yet to find the cause. Doesn't help reporting a fault to Telkom because they come out during the day when the SNR is fine

Exactly the same problem i have, and telkom just tells me they don't know why it does it and does not even suggest to have an investigation. Currently getting mweb to speak to them to get a senior technician to have a look at it.

Hi guys, if there is any rain or water overnight (dew or something) this MIGHT be your problem. You might have a break in your cable insulation somewhere and water is getting in. This will cause the SNR to drop and you can get disconnects. This is exactly my problem, after it rains I have terrible internet, just be prepared for a HUGE fight - I am close on 100 days of having the same problem and even after technicians have confirmed the cable needs to be replaced nothing has been done. TelkomZA however is now on the case and things seem to be happening.

Do you hear noise when you pick up the phone? If so this probably indicates that something similar is going on.

In my case, moisture can be ruled out. It's an abrupt switchover (one moment the SNR is good, the next it is bad) that happens every night at exactly the same time, and restores every morning at the same time. It's not a gradual transition, and it happens regardless of the weather. Probably someone's electric fence, municipal street lights, or something like that

Mine does abruptly switch as well (from 11db - 6db pretty much instantly). Can you hear noise if you pick up the phone (crackling/popping or a constant humming)?
