I had a recent outage where my line went down, telkom fixed it but my speed does not sync the same and i had a SNR drop from 13.8 to 14 all the way down to 6.4 even below 5 sometimes, would you say this is a pretty big drop?

How much lower is your sync, you may now be on interleaved from fast path

My sync was 10236 and went down to 9012 with a download speed of maximum 1mbps whereas i am now only getting 500kbps

Phone line is quiet, but this is where it gets weird, if the phone line is connected to a filter my snr is 4-6 but if i connect it straight into the wall jack my snr peaks to 8, is it just me or is that weird?

Are you using an extension cord? or maybe the filters are faulty..

I have tested with two routers and two brand new filters, same results. I contacted mweb and even they cannot understand or even give me an explanation, telkom said they tested and cannot find any problems, but if you ask me a SNR drop from 13 to 4.3 is a big drop, i have also been checking my snr every now and then and it is never at a constant rate, i would check it and it would be at 7.8 then the next minute it is at 6.0 next minute it is at 8.3, very intermittent.

Hi,
I have been battling with Telkom since end of October last year because of the exact same problem on my line. It is caused by high frequency noise, which is not audible but effects the DSL carrier. Look for a program called "RouterStat 6.8k" or "RouterStatLite" both free.Very nice to log your SNR and Sync speed to a graph and csv text file. I use it to prove to the Telkom techs (7 in total so far) and my ISP that I have a problem.
Most of the techs do not have the knowledge, experience or even the necessary test equipment to trace this kind of fault.
Don't give up! Keep reporting the fault until they fix it.

I have had the problem before and i had a very good technician that understood my problem, but this time i am battling to get them to understand, i will keep reporting this because i know for a fact something is wrong. The tech that attended the first time replaced my wall jack, the cable running from the power pole to the wall jack and another cable connecting me from the box and it was sorted.

I have since not been helped by telkom, more findings is that my line has now dropped sync and resynced at 8195 and snr dropped below 5.8 and surely this should be a sign to telkom?
