Spring equinox is on 23 September 08H49, so you have exactly 3 weeks to familiarise yourself with the system, fine-tune and basically warm them up. I'll bet you can't wait to see how they will perform tomorrow.

I don't see what has changed. All systems are seen as grid-tied systems?

costs , certifications ,schematics ,who can and who cant ,next will also probably be certifications of batteries ,even just battery systems that are installed without panels will be considered grid tied with the same application process ,this will filter through to other muni s as well .it is going to be a country nightmare if it does especially registrations .

So I have mixed feelings on that. On the one hand, there's all the red tape, with commensurate cost increases, and possibly unnecessary babysitting. On the other hand, we have installers (and DIYers) who spec and usually install systems in a most shocking way, and hopefully this, if implemented correctly, will solve 90% of those issues. It all depends on the implementation, the legislation and regulations are useless without it.
So I can understand why, and it's not the WC government's fault, they are just responding to what they see as a very dangerous situation. To avoid it, the industry needs to do more to regulate itself. There have been brave attempts, like those of SAPVIA, but we are a lawless country, so no consequences. Our society isn't mature enough yet to demand and enforce good practices, so we get bullied by the government instead.

Depends on your local cadre municipality. I'm being screwed on my rates and taxes the bunts make us pay R416 for the pleasure of having a line run past my house.
Got to feed the the leachers.
I'm on prepaid R3.00 a unit.
So have gone totally off line.

Yes. That's the first thing you do to save money.

Do it before you even install the solar. Then you avoid having to deal with BS stories from Eskom/municipalities about how they can't install prepaid if you have solar...

Yes, we currently pay around R1k/month in fixed fee's for our CityPower connection, even with the proposed/planned R500 odd/month fixed fee for prepaid for CityPower it is cheaper to be on prepaid.

My small 5kw system i have been able to tell lescum to go and play with themselves.
10 panels 4.5 kw
Sunsynk 5kw inverter
Hubble battery 5kw
All fitting and installation total of R98K
Already seeing returns of R2k a month, no power failures and no Escum rate increases.
I could do with another 5kw battery though.
The best is the convenience.
No doubt the cadres are gonna destroy Escum properly.
