So, Apparently Apple Bought SAAB's 3D Missile Targeting Mapping Software

I just found this... Turns out that a couple of months before SAAB went under, Apple bought 3D mapping technology from C3 Technologies, SAAB's defense/aircraft division. Its based on missile targeting technology, is accurate to 6 inches (15cm) and the rendering is astonishing. I guess the days of Apple relying on Google Maps are numbered.

Very impressive, my only question is that in order to replace Gmaps; Apple with this technology would need to have planes flight around collecting this imagery -- I really hope that is happening and that when they launch they don't only focus only the US as they have done in the past i.e. cover the world at least in as much detail as Gmaps is of course the ideal.
