Was checking my account on Vodacom's web site & saw the new Smart Plans!

I immediately phoned Vodacom and changed my Vodacom Talk 75 (R189 a month) to a Smart Standard 229.

So, instead of paying R189 for 75 anytime minutes, for R229 I now get 95 minutes a month , 150MB data and 150 SMSes. And it only costs R40 a month more!

I really think anyone who is still using a pure airtime only contract, is wasting their money.

*Oh, and David from their helpdesk gave me excellent service.

Thanks Vodacom, very happy with this!

Doesn't suit me unfortunately.

Would like something with 2GB data. 30 anytime mins. No SMS.

Yes, unfortunately the data bundles are not very big.

Sufficient to send & receive emails, but not for serious surfing.

But really happy, as I will be saving close to R100 a month.

That is a plus dude. Saving is saving at the end of the day.

if cell c is an option, you can get the same but with 300MB data for R214 (prepaid + data bundle)

wait.

this details a change from one plan to another where there is no phone involved. and reading the op again, it seems he has got a bigger discount than can be gleamed from the fall in rates.

by that i mean his old subs had the cost of the cell unit embedded. he has effectively been allowed to downgrade without the sp recouping those costs. so he has won more.

unless of course he had already finished his 2 year stint on the phone (or a couple of months away).

I think they've sugar coated the amount of minutes you received, you might want to double check that...

75 anytime minutes, 20 extra promo minutes Vodacom to Vodacom (for duration of contract) and 20 weekend minutes.

It is a good deal, however, your minutes will not carry over as in other plans I believe. I think your minutes carry over for a month? I stand under correction. That was not suitable for me sadly.

Vodacom Helpdesk told me the free minutes roll over for six months.

Vodacom Helpdesk told me the free minutes roll over for six months.

That is interesting because on their site it states "Smart Standard, Smart Advanced and Smart Super Plans: Combination of Anytime minutes, More Weekend minutes and promotional minutes. Anytime minutes may be used for calls anytime to any network, and expire at the end of the next month. More Weekend minutes and promotional minutes expire at month end and can be used for Vodacom-to-Vodacom calls only."

I asked a rep about that and he said that it doesn't carry over. It could be old terms and conditions for the plans but I think have a look if it does carry over for 6 months.
