Two weeks discovered a rather large hole, in one of my back molars....gave up going to an oral hygienist about two years ago, was so over having my mouth manhandled...and still having to pay above medical aid rates for the abuse... Anyways, back to said cavity...thought, would be a case of, in -check, ok, clean and fill. Oh no apparently, that is how they use to do it in the old days...These days: a panoramic x ray taken, then one of the affected tooth...before they start drilling away. Total damage R1706.00 - wonder how much medical aid will cover, as they are not medical aid rates limited.

My wife had 3 teeth pulled earlier this year, it came to just over 10k per tooth. We have medical aid and gap cover, i got all my money back as the gap cover covered what medical aid didn't.

I had a cavity done recently, all in including the Xray was just over R370.

So why not simply go to a medical aid practise...?

Did a quick check before, I made appointment. And all ones listed in my medical aid network, are listed as "partial payment"
What medical aid are you on..? Most Medicross and Intercare practises work via medical aid rates.

A very good friend of mine is a dentist (has his own practice)

If you guys have the faintest idea of what the equipment they use cost. You will never complain about a dentist bill again ever in your life.

But R 10k to have a tooth pulled. Jirre that is just robbery man :D

My dentist is my friend..
I do his IT support...
The machine to mill crowns is about R1.1mil...

The cost to pull a tooth is in the region of R220 all in... anaesthesia included.
The dentist I used to have, wanted to ass-rape me for every cent and fleece my medical aid.

Came into thread with the wrong cavity to be filled in mind.

Left disappointed.
