So, has anyone enabled the multitouch on their X10's yet?

Like the title says, and if you have, what ROM are you using? Any bugs?

ROFL, guess they're all waiting for the Arc instead.

I would have, but I have no patience for that kind of thing! ;)

I upgraded to 2.1 with the Nordic Firmware when it came out, but it looks like those new ROMS on XDA developers aren't so hot, there are things not working etc...

Have they cracked the bootloader yet?

No, not yet. Some of the custom ROM's are awesome, especially kX10, increased my Linpack score from 7 to 33, an it doesnt have ****ing Timescape in. The 2.1 ones all work fine as far as I know. Only the Froyo ones have some issues, with FreeX10 only the camera isn't working, it keeps force closing but they'll have it sorted soon. Anyways, you don't need to have a custom ROM for multi-touch. It's part of the new update that rolled out in Japan. With a few steps you can apply it to any stock 2.1 ROM as well, I was running the 2_0_2_A_0_24 Global and it worked perfectly.

Nice I should try that kx 10th you mentioned... Seems a mission to install though....

Once you get xrecovery working, it's easy. That might be the only problem. And backup and restoring your apps, although I have Titanium backup pro so its also just a few clicks. But even if you only update to the latest 24 stock firmware, you can run their (XDA's) JIT enabler which already gives a huge performance boost, and then the multi-touch thing.

Cool I am downloading the 2.0.2.A.0.24 ROM now... I will then try install xRecovery so I can update.

Multitouch on a SonyEricsson? Is that when you press down the power button & the home screen button at the same time?

Nice, just make sure your stuff is backed up, same as any update. I just want to see what someone else thinks of the multi touch. For me, pinch to zoom isn't really all that great, I prefer the old zooming in the browser. Some things are just better one-handed :D
It does give Angry Birds a new dimension though. But what I really wanted it for is the Old-skool games, Sonic 2, here I come.

I enabled multi touch, but apparently you need to do some other things with a program called root explorer to be able to use multitouch on stock apps eg maps, gallery, browser, etc.

You need a program called Root explorer to do this though, which is not free.

Most file managers let you edit the file, they just dont ask for superuser access and let you save it... (thank you Estrongs) I did buy Root Explorer, it was only something like $3, but I'm sure if you have the patience you can find a free alternative. But multi-touch still works on the non-Google apps though

Before adding the hardware .xml and setting permissions via root explorer, only a few apps work with multi touch. Afterwards though, everything works with the exception of Mediascape. Think we're going to have to wait for the UXP update or something similar.

I must say now that I have the kx10 ROM installed my phone is super fast!

Has anyone tried the FreeX10 on? It looks quite buggy so I'm hesitant to use it.

I tried FreeX10, only thing that was buggy is the camera app. But it's based on stock Froyo so everything is gray and you don't have the nice things SE put in like the phonebook that shows you all messages and emails from a contact. I haven't found a way to link their Failbook profiles either. Or the nice blue notification bar. Also it doesn't have the awesome font that kX10 has everywhere.

Wait for TripNraver's CyanogenMod 6.1.1 ROM and Gingerbread ROM :-D

Okay, thought I'd update you guys quickly. Installed this ROM last night and maaan, my Xperia is unbelievably fast. Will post Quadrant and Linpack scores in a bit. No FC's, reboots, crashes. Camera works great but camcorder is still a WIP.

Multi touch also works in every app without having to edit the prop file or add the hardware .xml :)

That ROM looks good, do you miss the Sony Ericsson stuff or is it better without?
