So how does RAIN actually work?

I'm curious to find out how RAIN's network really operates.

I'm used to the ADSL model, which, if I understand correctly, uses a PPPOE connection over the telephone lines to connect your house to Afrihost or WebAfrica or MWeb for example, and then the ISP has a connection to the wider world. Did I get that right?

RAIN's packages seem to be the same for every seller. Are the ISPs in this case any more than a storefront / reseller for RAIN, with RAIN being the actual ISP? Or is it working in a similar way to ADSL, i.e. the RAIN network connecting the user at home to e.g. WebAfrica and then from WebAfrica to the internet?

Would love to hear from someone in the know.

Yip, that is why you are seeing the same pricing everywhere. I think this is because RAIN would like to control the quality of their network, eg. if the ISP gets the chance to resell the data, we would see competition and and increase in the amount of data being used on the network, and then you will have the same issues as VC, MTN, CellC and Telkom has.

PS: Just my 2c.
