Yesterday morning bright and early my new PC arrived. Well, Parts of it actually
Specs are;
Gigabyte EP45-DS3L motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 processor
Coolermaster CM690 Case
Gigabyte Odin 585 watt Psu
4 x 1 Gig Kingston DDR2 800 ram
Seagate BaracudA 500 GIG Hdd
And last but certainly not least, HIS Radeon 4870 512 mb
So i start putting it all together and get to the point where i want to boot up for the first time and . . . BAM!!!!! I need another PCI-E 6 pin . . The PSU has one. Graphics card tells me with a rather scary looking red message saying i have failed to plug in the second Pci-e plug
This on Mid Sunday so no shops will be open for me to go buy one
But alas, i could not wait a whole day! So i stripped the PSU from my old Pc ( Which has a PCI-e six pin
and joined the black and yellow cables to three molex plugs on my new PSU ( I just pushed them into the little metal pin, no cutting or anything stupid ) And wahla it worked
I was rather proud. Did some testing and overclocking yesterday, and my word its amazing . . Far Cry 2 Max everything and still very playable framerates
Got the OC up to 3Ghz on stock voltage . . Super Pi times up from 20 sec flat to 16 secs...
I will post some Pics now now.
But the question is, where can i buy a Molex to 6 in PCI-E converter??
EDIT: Ps, my old system, specs were
Intel Pentium 4 630 3.0Ghz
2 Gigs A DATA ram
XFX 7600GT
160 Gig hdd
ASus P5s MX SE
lol so its quite an upgrade
