Its basically got all the channels you would find on DSTV (history, discovery, news channels, Disney, ESPN, etc etc)... and the sci fi channel!!!.. for um... R50 a month.

Its amazing how a 3rd world country is able to out perform South Africa in most areas of telecom (tv and internet) in both pricing and speed.

Of course here they have something South Africa does not have when it comes to telecoms... a free market.

The more perspective I get from being here, the more I realize how bad South Africans are ripped off by our media and telecoms companies.

So far my media bill a month (uncapped 2mbs / cable tv ) is around R150 a month.

Someone really needs to slap ICASA around a bit.. if a 3rd world country can provide that kinda service to its population, theres no reason South Africa... a far wealthier country with much better infrastructure ... cant.

This post nullifies all the excuses dreamt up by CEO's and ex-CEO's...

If Manila can do that... then why not us as well? Or are the fat cats too entrenched in their fat cat mentality?

Every greases everybodys palms. The coruption is unbelievable. The celphone companies reckon lowering the switching fees wil 'destabilise the industry'! It will temporarily stem the continuos raping of consumers. Until the figure out how to rape us some otha way.

So everybody moans about it, do we stand up and boycott these services, no .We just carry on moaning but still use the service. I myself do the same, except that when i feel truly ripped off i just don't go back whether its price or just bad service.
