So I got a HP Microserver and the onboard VGA gave in. So I scouted a few forums(maybe I didn't research it enough) and I got a Nvidia geforce GT220 graphics card. Problem is it doesn't fit. It's too big. Any chance I could get some sort of extension cable because there is some free space where the CD ROM goes? Is that not a good idea? I bought it off Gumtree so I don't know if I have a leg to stand on to maybe get my money back. Help please!

Sell the card and buy low profile card. Not worth the time and money get a extension cable.

Ok I see where I went wrong. I need a low profile graphics card. Thanks a lot guys. Really appreciate the help.

The card is small enough, the bracket isn't.

Just take it off and go without, then the card will fit just fine.

Or just the bracket shorter if you have the tools for the job. (After removing it, not while it's attached)

Unless your problem is that the card is too wide because of a fan/cooler? Haven't seen that on the 220 but it's not impossible I guess.

Just unscrew the bracket and duct tape it on... I did that with my PfSense box and it works fine. Not like you're gonna be doing a lot of plugging/unplugging

This is the graphics card I bought.

That's awesome thanks. I'm gonna try and get my money back for the other graphics card and get this one.

Before I do though would this graphics card be compatible with the HP Microserver? Is that a dumb question?

Yes it is. I had one in my Microserver when I had one.
