Anyway im still scared of driving :o Is this normal lol? How did you make yourself relax?

Thanks and sorry if I wasted your time :)

Every time you drive somewhere, and don't crash into anything on the way, it gets a little better. :D

Just concentrate on being an observant driver in spite of your fear, and you'll get a bit more comfortable every day. Once the scale begins to tip in the favour of being relaxed, you need to start guarding against becoming complacent. Getting behind the wheel always boils down to controlling a 1 ton + machine that can easily kill you, hurtling along mere centimetres from other 1 ton + machines that can easily kill you. Don't ever forget that bit.

Thanks enigma! Though my sister was a paramedic and she showed me pics of accidents (once with a piece of skull on the road with hair on it) . So Ill drive safe and never ever under the influence...wouldn't be able to live with myself if I had to kill someone else.

Guess I just gotta drive and just man it out.

I wasn't nerous or scared as I passed my license. My dad bought me a cool car (for the time) and I was just excited that I passed and anxious to drive it by myself and show off to my friends ....

... until 45 minutes after my test on the way they pulled me off at 96km/h in a 60km/h zone and threatened to take away my licenses etc. I got home, called a friend to pick me up and off to the police station to pay it. I was a little nervous of driving for a few days after that :/

So I passed recently!

Shame, I hope it was not a shock to the family and if you have beneficiaries you made provision for them in your will!! :D

(Yes, this is how they say it in Durban! I had a colleague who phoned and asked to speak to someone once. The person on the other side said that they were sorry but he couldn't as the person was late. He asked if they knew when he would be in. The person on the other side repeated that they were late. After a few backwards and forwards comments he realised that the person he asked to speak to was dead!)

Back on topic we go...

Never become complacent behind the wheel, that's when things go very wrong very quickly. Start learning defensive driving habits now, so that they become engrained in your driving style.

Unfortunately you can't always avoid accidents, but being alert will help give you the extra few seconds / milliseconds you might need to avoid a collision.

* Some extra advice: If you're ever involved in an accident, NEVER admit fault, even if you were clearly in the wrong.

+1, its never your fault, and never trust those toe-truck people..

When I got my license I proudly showed it to my best friends father beaming from ear to ear with pride. His response was, 'hmph! Now you can start learning to drive!" ... I was completely pissed off but soon realized that he was 100% correct.

Guys I couldn't get my actual temporary license because something was wrong with their systems... Problem is I wont be here until next Monday...How long will they wait for me? I have the test saying I passed etc
