I am getting ADSL from Incredible Connection (got a 2mbps line for R99). I must just wait for Telkom to install my line.

So I was wondering, will I have issues with throttling on ADSL? I mean, I can potentially use a lot of data. I currently have a 2mbps iBurst connection with 20gb per month. This can last, but only because I space it out and don't just "go wild". But what if I want to download my games from Steam: 8+ gigabytes per game (easily 18gb some games). Will this give me a bad "reputation" or something and cause throttling? Is, say, 50gb per month usage considered a problem to ISPs?

I don't really have a problem with iBurst, but I will be paying about R450 in total with ADSL as apposed to their (iBurst's) lowest uncapped package of R600. Also, gaming is just a no go on iBurst (unless you use their servers). I am not a huge gamer, but since I haven't really had any worthwhile online gaming experience, that could well change.

What can you tell me..what should I know? What should concern me? What should I watch out for?

I do +-8GB per day on openWeb 1MB and would highly recommend them as they have no throttling policy and don't track your usage.

What should you know?
Your usage IS going to go up once you get rid of iBlurst.

What should concern you?
Throttling policies, hench why to stay away from the likes of MWeb and such, and rather go for OpenWeb - Their Gold package specifically, or else silver at least.

What should you watch out for?
An OpenWeb special - you can save a lot on their Gold packages if they have a gold special going on.

I know others say you won't "need" a gold package... I reckon it's worth it, and really, your usage IS going to go up... I know it, you know it.

Seems my skim reading let me down :D Didn't read the OPs post completely.

I would recommend OW Gold too. According to forum feedback the two best packages are OpenWeb Gold and Afrihost Business.

Both these packages are significantly more expensive than the IC R99 deal though, so I would suggest you see how things go and then upgrade to a more expensive package if you experience issues.

Like said above Openweb gold or Afrihost Business account.
