Hi guys

Decided to give Linux a chance now. I dont have a flashy machine its really just a STD workstation

HP D530 smallfactor
2GB ram
160Gb HD

so was wondering what you guys suggest ? im gonna start learning it as i go along.

thx

Pick a distro, install it, use it as your primary workstation.

What do you want from linux ?

Im not a professional user but would suggest Linux Mint. Comes with Multimedia playback out of the box. If you want to fiddle a bit to get multimedia playback working (this will give a bit of experience with terminal and repositories etc) then try Ubuntu.

i donwloaded ubuntu 9.04 last night want to give it a bash

well i really only use email web surfing and maybe streaming to my ps3 ? need to find a package to do that..

just worried about the downloads of packages and updates have like 1Gb left on my cap

i agree with ultimate edition has most popular apps installed. you just have to add wine to your update manager and install samba if you wanna share files between linux and windows.
