So looks like I'm getting a PS3

I have the Samsung Syncmaster 225ms, it has enough inputs to connect a PC and 2 consoles, and can handle up to 1080i resolution. I would definitely recommend it if you can find one, they were discontinued last year in favour of the larger 24 inch, but that screen doesn't have as many inputs.

I think (the rest will agree) he should aim for one that does 1080p natively..

Actually if you take off your 'console war' glasses for a minute ... I did say that is the average lifespan of the Blu-ray laser.

Majority of clients I service with broken PS3s either bought it second hand or it had the standard 12 month warranty.

Also Partserv do not do repairs ... they give you a refurb. So even with the extended warranty from a retailer - you get a unit that can break down in future.

I have no preference - I own a Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. I repair the 360, PS3 and Wii for a living. Lately, PS3s and DS Lites have been coming in more often for a repair.

My statement in no way hints or adds to the well documented 'console wars'.

A current gen console ... or any other electronic device ... will break in some form or other.

Hi Guys

Do any of you have a problem with the Samsung 2333sw going into standby mode when watching a movie dvd using the ps3? I can play games etc but as soon as I play a movie dvd, nothing, the blue light in front just starts flashing. I am using a dvi-hdmi cable. I did some serious searching and found out that I had to change the resolution to 576/720p when I want to watch a DVD and change back to using 1080p when I play games. Very irritating.

Anyway I thought I would just ask in case someone else is experiencing the same problems.

That's the 1 I been talking about the whole thread :) looks like it could be a pretty decent monitor and its only R200 more than the 2333SW.

I also see according to this thread http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/1112311.html it might be 1920x1080 @120hz, any one with any other links to confirm this? :)

What u going to do about sound? Im planning on connecting my Xbox to my T260, not sure what to do about sound tho.
 
I've got an optical cable so plugging it straight into my Z5500 :) or that above screen has little speakers built in if I'm not mistaken :)
