Ja if it wasn't for the swearing then it wouldn't be such a big thing. Having a few cousins that age, I wouldn't like them swearing to that extent (and it does get pretty fsckin brutal especially for an 11yo to hear). The violence, as long as you play with him and he knows that it's only fantasy ..... nothing wrong there.

I'd go with the suggestion of another good action shoot em up ..... he'll get engrossed (you too) and hopefully forget about the fact that dad won't get him GTA4.

Having clear limits is very healthy for kids. I don't think forbidding them from playing a game is going to leave a lasting scar or cause them to become crack fiends later in life. They'll push you as far as you can go, but they appreciate having boundaries.
