What is the best book to get (or app)? Sasol birds of Southern Africa?

Yes. That is arguably the best book to get. It is also available on Android with sounds of I am not mistaken

Go to any decent second hand bookstore and buy the book... with paper pages!! Or are you going to be an urban birdwatcher?

Those should be full downloads and have bird call sounds too. So if you hear the sound, you can match it to the app (I've heard).

Just asking around if my friends have a copy :) Also the app would be handy since I can't carry a book everywhere :)
 
Sasol Birds is pretty decent and I found the old one for Doze ME is loosely just web pages, which I have extracted into a single site.

There is another one - SAPPI - that has a bird caller device. That book is the Biz Niz!

It is also only available as a book though.

Second hand wouldn't be as nice as the latest edition though. I have the Sasol one and enjoy it a lot. I love reading the bird voices and trying to imitate them :D
Seriously though, its a very nice book :)
