I have the following naming convention:Also go with device model. Same thing with HDDs in Windoze. HDD brand + size as name: Movies(SG2TB) etc.
Avoided that for wireless router though, as thought it might make it easier to hack- that a valid concern?? IE: DLinkXXX?

PCs: Mythological creatures (Golem, Drake, Minotaur, Dwarf, etc.). More powerful PC = more powerful creature.
Devices and Wifi hotspots: Mythological places (Gondor, Rivendell, Babylon, Atlantis, etc.).
HDDs: Ancient buildings (Pyramid, Sphinx, Pantheon, Colosseum, etc.). Size of the drive is ~relative to the size of the building.

Well we are talking about a home network hereFluffy names only work when you have less than 10 devices/shares on your network, after that it becomes chaotic
