Saw the new pricing (http://mybroadband.co.za/news/Wireless/10586.html) and have rather mixed feelings about it considering making the throttling a bolt-on option (as now users on 1gb+64k throttled are paying MORE per month) but having 128kb uncapped would be rather nice from where I'm standing since I can get 1 GB account + 128kb uncapped for less than I'm paying right now.

2 questions then for Jannie or Shaun:

1) Is this 128kb subject to some arbitrary limit or can I achieve the max possible amount downloaded each month (roughly 40gigs at that speed) and never worry about being moaned at?

2) As the title suggests, when can we start migrating? Can I call the helpdesk tomorrow and get the ball rolling already? Have the staff been informed to deal with these migrations?

Okay so I cheated and asked 3 questions in that last question but they're all pretty much related me thinks.

OK. Lets start answering.

Do the max you can (legally) and you will not be moaned at.

2) As the title suggests, when can we start migrating?

As soon as all the ducks are in a row. Next month would be fine.
Can I call the helpdesk tomorrow and get the ball rolling already?

No. The migrationsd will only be available in the new month.

Have the staff been informed to deal with these migrations?

Training and process flows are being dealt with now.

P2P will never be prioritised. We do not want torrents affecting the performance of the network.

Hope all are answered.

will we be able to migrate our accounts via the web or will we have to phone the helpdesk to get it done?

Also just to clear this up in my mind i will move over from the 10gig package to the 15 gig but i will be hard capped if i reach my limit? And if so will i still be able to get onto the iburst website to buy more bandwidth if iam hard capped?

Yes, a pop-up screen will appear to give you the option to top up.

When subscribers reach their limit a pop-up screen will appear giving them the choice to allow their account to be ‘capped’ or they can top-up at their relevant ‘in-bundle’ rate to continue surfing.

Ah Thankies for the replies Shaun.

One more for you though, considering we can only migrate next month, when will the migrations actually come into effect?

That is, if I call and arrange to be moved to the 1gb+128k next month will I immediately have 128k after migration is processed or will I need to wait until the *next* month (January) for the changes to take place?

I guess following the confirmation that throttled VAS will only be on >5gb and >8gb packages, you're in the same boat as me and no longer looking to migrate?

Aye looks like it.

Terrible news when you compare it with Digichilli uncapped at R500 (exclu line rental) and Cybersmart uncapped at R520 (INCLUDING line rental!). I won't mention screamer due to the service complaints about it.........but honestly iBurst have taken a massive step backwards while everyone else leaps forward.

Oh wells, already have my adsl line (always needed a "backup" for iBursts "off days") and will probably just switch over........still.....tis a real pity.
