So you're a raiding rogue ...

It died at 70 already. By the higher gear levels Combat Swords fast outpaced any other Raiding Rogue spec, especially after Hemo got nerfed.

The DPS increase from Instant Poison procs wasn't very high and once you've got a 5x Stack of Deadly applying it again does basically nothing.

Also, poisons did not scale at all so a 70 in greens might find that the spam Shiv/Envenom does better dps but as your gear scaled Rupture become a much better finishing move.

*Edit* Any Rogue finishing with Evicerate at 70 is a nub. Evic gets mitigated by Armour and Rupture doesn't. SnD > Rupture > *

Just have a look at the link I posted to a video about Mutilate raiding spec and the rotations :)

Any color gem can go in any socket, you dont always need to have a blue gem in a blue socket, least not if the socket bonus is worth it

Edit, didnt see you've already socketed your gems.

Try aim at upgrading your chest for a http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37165 in the mean time,
Get http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=44488 on your gloves asap, or save up badges for the t7 gloves,
and another heroic item with HR worth acquiring : http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37685

Also go back to Zangar and get the head enchant :)
Need to be revered and it's 65g if I recall correctly.

Oh right I didn't know that. I always thought it was restricted to the "can be used in blue/red sockets"

I thought the socket bonus was for equipping the socket, not using the correct colour gem. So Say my meta requires 1 red/yellow and blue gem and I only have blue slots, I can chuck in whatever gems I want right?

I always thought it required your gear composition to have those colour sockets at hand.

Ye, I still need to run Nexxus heroic. I've done most of the others (except gundrak due to that bloody snake boss >.< ) - I'll ask the lads to help me and hopefully that +51 hit rating will come my way!

What's the hit cap on rogues again? 330 or some such?

All the combat rogues I know have around 360 (with 5/5 precision - the spec I linked has that). Not sure if Assassination is different

My gloves are low level and I don't want to waste enchants on replaceables. Besides, I lost a roll on the T7 gloves to another rogue in my guild the other night. So it'll come :)

As for the stratholme ring, I missed out on that run when I tried to help a hunter in our guild get his crossbow (that I & abovementioned rogue already have :p) from Utgarde Keep (h)

** EDIT: This one would actually benefit me more. +38 hit & gem socket? Yes please!

Since it's a JC recipe and I have all the mats anyway, it's a double whammy!

I'm very keen to finish all the heroics...but as I've said ... I only dinged 80 a few days back, so I'll get there.

Another alternative to the Nexxus chestpiece is getting my lazy but off the ground and score enough brownie points with the Ebon blade lads to get their rep reward epic, the Darkheart Chesguard.

Funny enough, I went there and bought it (85g) and equipped it. That same night I won the roll on my current headpiece and haven't been back to get another one since then. (again - not enough time ... I got 5 epics + all my blues in one weekend)

Thats because of the changes to Mutilate and poisons now scaling.

I was refering to your claims at 70.

Mutilate is a good Raiding spec at the moment but HAT spec seems to be pantsing all other specs at the moment.

But I think we're not on the same page. My advice to him was as from my experience at level 70. Which turns out not to be bad advice at all as it is an awesome rotation at level 80.

The darkheart chest doesnt have hit though ;) That ring is quite nice, pure dps! You could socket any gem into it, depending on what stats you need most

My agility & AP is doing just fine atm ... plus that battle shout buff gives me 500 more AP in a raid, so I need to stack my hit rating now as a matter of urgency!

Thanks for all the comments etc. so far guys ... It's one of the enjoyable parts of wow to be able to compare and learn from others.

+1 that is why I love this game so much.

People need to be able to ask and help if and when they can. I know I ask allot :o

Nope. it's still a crap rotation at 80. There isn't a Rogue spec in existence that spams Shiv.
Mutilate is the only spec that uses Envenom and I think it's still only used it Rupture is up.

Shiv has it's benefits, no one is saying spam Shiv.

Shiv used less energy per combo point.
Shiv applies off hand poison 100% per Shiv.

Nice way to run up enought Combo points for SnD or Rupture. Also nice to apply poisons quickly and keep them stacked. Now I know you know your shyt when it comes to builds and rotations. As you current standing is by personal prefference. As according the all players there is no clear winner between SS+Eviscate or Shiv+Envenom. The numbers are just about the same.

You prefer combat, some prefer Assassination ;)

I'll only use eviscerate when its a normal mob. Since dots won't tick down quick enough and I can get 6000 crit with evisc.

On boss fights I wont bother since rupture isn't mitigated by armor.

Actually I've done my fair share of Raiding as Assassination too. It has some really great tricks, especially now.

As your for your argument about SS+Evic vs Shiv+Envenom, any Rogue who is using SS+Evic should be shot and then have his wounds salted.
SS+Rupture. Never ever ever finish with Evic in a Raid. There is always another ability that you can finish on with better results, be it Slice and Dice or Rupture.

The number for Shiv+Envenom have always fallen below the other ability combo's.
A Muti rogue is the only spec that will use Envenom and they'll be using Muti+Envenom not Shiv.

Shiv has 1 use and 1 use only. On the Kael'thas fight you get your Rogues to equip the Dagger in their offhand (without any poisons) and they use Shiv to spam offhand hits for the daggers dispeling effect on mind controlled players.

Shiv is a failed experiment in fleshing out the Rogue rotation.

Shogun, regarding your weapons...

I'm sitting with Titansteel Shanker which is 1.6 on my MH and Librarian's Paper Cutter which is 1.3 in my OH.

I have a 2nd cutter in my bank. Would you rather use my current set or use two paper cutters of 1.3 speed each with +46 haste each as opposed to the 106 AP I get from the shanker?

Secondly ... do you prefer instant poison MH / Deadly poison OH ... or the other way around?

Voicy, I don't play my Rogue anymore as my main but from the reading I've done Muti needs 2x Slow weapons so keeping the Shanker in your MH is a good idea.

I think it doesn't make much different which order you put your poisons on your weapons but don't take my word for it.

I suggest you look at the Rogue topics at Elitistjerks.com. You'll probably have to read through some quite heavy maths but if the Rogue topics there are anything like many of the others the first page will have a good summary of what you need to know for each spec.

I got mace/sword combat spec 3350ap and 245 hit & I can say that I suck on burst dps. During instances I am 3 or 4th on the damage meters and with 25 man raids I sit around 4-6th. Respeccing tonight, gonna see how that works out. Seen a blue post mentioning that they gonna look at the combat rogues. Until then I will continue to pickpocket until I get my MH Sword :)
