As far as I understand, the softcap for iBurst is 64kbps (equals ~8kbytes/s), am I correct? Now, after reaching my cap this month, my download speeds barely go above 1kbytes/s and is very sporadic. These horrendous speeds occur with HTTP downloads, FTP and torrents.

Is there any way I can reach the full potential of my soft cap? I've got some downloads that have to finish before the end of the month...

Thanks!

My softcap always maxes out at about 7-8KB/sec. Maybe the tower you're on is overloaded?

Have you tried to do multiple threaded downloads? Use a download manager like free download manager and use servers which support resuming, then allow for 3-4 threads. Make sure to set the 64kbps (ISDN) option in
free download manager.

If i'm not mistaken, iBursts foot is also a little heavy on bandwidth throttling, think they even go as far as to throttle HTTP.

When d/l torrents, use uTorrent, and be sure to enable protocol encryption, this helps reduce the effects of throttling.

I too use uTorrent, and even with encryption enabled, it still doesn't help.

To enable encryption:
> Options
> Preferences
> Bittorrent (left hand)
> Protocol Encryption: Set however you like.

From the uTorrent helpfile:
Protocol Encryption
The Outgoing dropdown menu allows you to select the mode of encryption that you prefer µTorrent to establish. All modes will accept incoming encrypted connections, and the encryption is 2-way.
Disabled will force µTorrent to attempt to establish only unencrypted outgoing connections.
Enabled will allow µTorrent to establish encrypted and unencrypted outgoing connections, depending on how the peer responds to the handshake. This is the recommended option, as it provides µTorrent with the largest pool of peers to pick from for connecting to.
Forced forces µTorrent to establish only encrypted outgoing connections. Any peer that doesn't support encryption will not be connected to. It is recommended that you not use this option unless your ISP actively searches for unencrypted outgoing connections, as it can impair your ability to connect to peers.
Allow incoming legacy connections allows µTorrent to accept unencrypted incoming connections. If disabled, any incoming connection that is unencrypted will be ignored. It is recommended that you not disable this option unless your ISP actively searches for unencrypted incoming connections, as it can significantly impair your ability to connect to peers.

Thank goodness it's a new month now, anyway... Will have to finish downloads now.

Seems to kinda work ... noticed a small increase ... but it is better than none at all!!! :)

Is there no ports at all open that one can use for torrents?
