I thought every manufacturer had changed to hardtops - but I see the 2 Series is still softop.
Out of interest who else even makes?
Think the Audis are as well?
No offense this thread is dumb. There are still many softop cars. As mentioned above. And MX-5
Hard tops are very heavy. You need all the additional chassis stiffening, and then you get a heavy metal roof and mechanism on top of that. My SLK is over 1500kg.
I love that. No offense but still going to offend.

Interestingly, with 2+2 convertibles, soft-tops can be heavier and with more additional chassis stiffening weight e.g
Soft-top
A5 Coupé 2.0 TFSI = 1505kg
A5 Cabriolet 2.0 TFSI =1705kg
Weight difference = 200kg
Hard top
428i Coupé = 1525kg
428i Convertible = 1680kg
Weight difference = 155kg

OMG not this coupe talk again. Next thing you know we'll have soft top sportbacks (whatever the **** a sportback is, sounds like a ninja turtle's outfit for a triathlon or something...)
Yes...rather the glass crap then
