My home network connects to the ADSL router via a gateway PC running XP. My teenage daughter has now taken to hogging all the bandwidth, formerly my sole prerogative! So I want to limit bandwidth use and found this product. Has anyone tried it? It looks like it can limit TCP/IP traffic by IP address, which would work great. I'd appreciate any feedback if you have run it yourself.

And PLEASE, NO, I don't want to run a Linux/Squid setup as a gateway, nor IPCOP, nor any Linux solution, if I can possibly help it!

i'm using that app jabulani - and it works like a dream - i've done ICS with it and applied it .....giving my 2nd user only 15kb/sec :)))

netlimiter - u have to install it on the clients pc - bzzzzzt er no...client right clicks and closes netlimiter - boom hogging away again!

softperfect ftw!

Been looking for something like this for a long time now...

Thanks teraside and MrNutz for your posts. I'll take a look at netlimiter but fear that any client-side program would rapidly be de-installed. 15kb/sec sounds about right!! ;)

Your help is much appreciated.

Well if "know how to admin the client side pc," you could always set it up that she can't ,"if she is a average skilled pc user*," touch* tamper*uninstall the file and she will barely be able to press Ctrl+Alt+Del with out you knowing/approving it.

Collages, schools, businesses normally takes this approach.
[but less drastic approach is probably needed and if you wanted to, you could always view her desktop remotely as well to catch her in the act of surfing p*rn(joke)]

You could always, install 2 LAN cards in 1 PC and set it up as a host for your LAN and the middle-man between your LAN* and router*.

Then installing network managing software like: http://www.softperfect.com/download/

or "Sunbelt's Personal Firewall"(client side-but very nice with "Net limiter" and "Viper-Anti-virus": http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com
