Software Engineer - Full Stack
Note this position is for our Johannesburg development office located in Sandton.
Technologies
Scala for development, with a strong focus on Functional Programming while still incorporating some aspects of Object-Oriented development.
•Concurrency Toolkit: Akka
•Web Framework: Play
•Source control: Git
•Database: MongoDB and Redis
Responsibilities
•Implement and deliver features on the product roadmap to increase product adoption
•Communicating with various project stakeholders to clarify and contribute to feature requirements
•Deliver and maintain high quality software
•Follow agile software development practices
•Contribute to building a highly effective team
Qualifications
•Scala, Java, Erlang or Haskell experience
•Ability to apply design patterns, data structures and algorithms
•Proficient using open source languages, operating systems and tools
•Knowledge of agile software development practices
•BS in Computer Science or related field
•1-*2 years in an engineering role preferred
Bonus Points
•Understanding of modern web technology stack - server and client
•Experience with a NoSQL database
•Experience with EC2 or Openstack
